At the AWS Summit New York 2025, Amazon Web Services (AWS) introduced a wave of innovations. The centerpiece of the announcement was Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, a new suite of tools designed to help organizations deploy autonomous AI agents securely and efficiently at enterprise scale.
AWS also revealed a dedicated AI agent category in the AWS Marketplace and announced a fresh $100 million investment in its Generative AI Innovation Center. These initiatives reflect AWS’s broader strategy to lead in the emerging field of agentic AI, where AI-powered systems can reason, plan, and act on behalf of users.
Swami Sivasubramanian, AWS Vice President for Agentic AI, emphasized the transformative impact of AI agents, noting they will reshape how software is built and how humans interact with technology. He explained that these agents bring a new level of autonomy and adaptability, but also introduce unique challenges that AWS aims to solve.
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore bridges prototype to production
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore was introduced as a comprehensive set of services to help developers move AI agents from early-stage experiments to production-ready solutions. The platform includes seven core services: Runtime, Memory, Identity, Gateway, Code Interpreter, Browser Tool, and Observability.
For example, AgentCore Runtime allows agents to operate with minimal latency and handle complex tasks for up to eight hours—currently the longest in the industry. The Identity service supports integration with major identity providers, ensuring secure authentication. Meanwhile, AgentCore Observability gives developers real-time insights into agent performance through built-in monitoring tools.
Companies like Itaú Unibanco, Innovaccer, and Box are already using AgentCore to build advanced AI applications. These tools allow you to build agents that can navigate websites, write and test code, and manage real-world workflows with high security and reliability.
The AWS Marketplace now has a new category called AI Agents and Tools, which enables you to locate, purchase, and use pre-made AI agents and development tools from reliable suppliers.
With ready-to-use integrations and professional services, the marketplace aims to reduce the time it takes to go from experimentation to fully operational AI systems. You can choose from a growing list of solutions to help you scale AI faster and more securely.
AWS revealed a further $100 million investment, which builds on two years of work helping thousands of organizations adopt generative and agentic AI technologies.
Companies such as Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Europe, BMW, and AstraZeneca have already reported significant gains from working with the center. From creating AI assistants for sports commentary to diagnosing vehicle issues across global networks, the real-world applications are rapidly expanding.
More innovations on the horizon
In addition to AgentCore, AWS introduced new customization capabilities for its Amazon Nova models, previewed Amazon S3 Vectors for cost-efficient vector data storage, and launched Kiro, a developer-friendly IDE for building AI agents. It also rolled out new Model Context Protocol (MCP) resources, announced a partnership with Meta to support AI startups, and expanded access to TwelveLabs models through Amazon Bedrock.
As AI becomes more integral to enterprise strategy, AWS is positioning itself as a key enabler of the next generation of intelligent systems.
